Part 2-The Grass Is Always Greener In Someone Else's Life

Yes it is true. If we are tall we want to be short and visa versa. If we have Large breasts we want small and visa versa. We always want something different whether it be in our physical makeup or what we possess. No matter how satisfied I am with my life, a little pang of envy hits me now and then.

Another "while I was growing up" story. While I was growing up with 4 sisters, I wanted to dress like my friends. Though we did go shopping for school clothes, the majority of our clothes were creations by my mother. Even though she worked full time, she sewed alot. It isn't easy to keep 5 growing girls in fashion. My mother was an excellent seamstress. She added her own touch and designing skills to our clothes. I didn't appreciate her skills to the depth my friends did. I wanted to borrow my friends clothes but the surprise to me was that they wanted mine. My friends wanted to borrow mine because they were different-original. Later in life I realized how special it was to have "designer, original" clothes.

What ever your life is, I hope you see the wonder and originality it brings to you.

The Grass Is Always Greener In Someone Else's Life

I grew up in the country. By country I mean a half mile gravel road to the house. A front yard, back yard, garden area and pasture with barn. We had horses, a dog, cats, snakes, squirrels , deer and all the other creatures that thrive where tree's and grass are plentiful. We walked to the bus stop to go to school. We rode bikes and horses. We swam in the river at the end of our road. As I grew into my teen years I became envious of friends who lived in the city. I thought I would want to live in a city when I was old enough to make a choice. When I think back to those days I realize that everyday was like a vacation. I can only dream of living in that kind of environment again.
Today I live alone in an apartment. Well, not completely alone. I have a bird. Over the last ten years I have lived on the edge of a city and in the midst of a city. I have lived in apartments, a duplex and a small house in the city. It is not suiting this country girl after all. I do have tendencies toward claustrophobia so apartment living seems extremely confining. It also doesn't seem healthy. I often wonder how families can thrive living in an apartment. For a family living in an apartment to experience an outdoor activity or exercise routine, they have to go somewhere. Often the activities and exercise get put on the back burner when they have to plan a time when everyone can load into the car to go do something. With the economy being based on two people working and the rising costs of essentials, very few families can afford to rent or buy a home with a yard. It seems more and more families are being forced into living in small quarters. I see this as a cause for the rise in poor health. This is just my opinion.
I am no longer envious of my friends who grew up in the city.

To be continued.

"I want to quit smoking". Out of 40+ new years resolutions, that one statement takes the majority vote. The price of cigerettes now is outrageous and groups are working to increase the cost beyond reason. It will be like buying an illegal drug. Cigerettes cost more then a cold beer already. The claims being that increasing the cost of cigerettes will make them less affodable to teens. I strongly disagree with the cost of cigerettes be raised for that reason or any other reason. Can you imagine the crime rate going down if that happens. Cigerettes are not healthy, but for some it would be harder on them to quit. For me it reduces the amount of pain I feel from Fybromyalgia. It also helps keep my low blood pressure up so I can stay awake. I began smoking at a young age watching Betty Davis movies. It was the thing to do. I have quit several time and will try again until I succeed.
Things NOT to do when quitting smoking:
1. Don't go to a party where people are playing truth or dare and dare you to just smoke one.
2. Don't tell people you are quitting or the stress of them guilting if you give into one will make it harder to keep trying. They have already told you you failed.
3. Don't go to a casino for at least 3 weeks.
4. Don't get into an argument with anyone about anything-take notes and address the disagreement when you feel less stressed.
5. Don't hit a wall-your hand will hurt and you will want that *%$@#+ cigerette more.
6. Don't drink alchohol. Duh.
7. Don't drink any kind of alchohol. You really don't need wine in that recipe.
Things TO do when quitting smoking:
1. Turn the water to cold off and on during a shower. It helps the blood pressure. Really.
2. Drink alot of orange juice. It cleanses the nicotine from your body.
3. Go for alot of walks. Even if it has to be fast walking through walmart.
4. Sleep as much as you can !
5. Do something you have wanted to do and put off. It will inspire you.
6. Reward yourself.
7. Reward yourself more. You deserve it.
